What drives us to create any wonder is purpose. Our purpose has driven us our
purpose has driven us to refresh the age-old Sanganeri block printing technique to develop an eco-conscious, all-season, statement-worthy clothing line that seeps in style, craftsmanship and goodness presenting WildMoss Clothing!
At WildMoss, we believe that your clothes not only speak your mood but introduces you in a new way. So, what better than conversational prints. We feel that prints talk for you! In this conversation of comfort and style, we have explored the traditional Sanganeri technique of Rajasthan.
What is Sanganeri Technique of Rajasthan?
This meticulous technique involves the print repeat being mirrored, traced on Sheesham wood pieces and carved. The biggest repeat can be achieved is 6” x 6” unlike mill printing. So, if a particular print has four colours, then it needs to be imprinted four times – imagine the time and precision it takes! To make sure that every print wows you like the other, all the printing is done by thumb and fingers as scale, a lot of manual skill and love goes into creating each and every print. As we always say – love is sweeter with all the imperfections, the most endearing aspects of hand-block printing are the unevenness with each stamping being unique and unmatched in its variations, just like us! Every print is a bouquet of skill, hard work and precision of our artisans who hail from Sanganer in Jaipur, for whom this wood carving is a family profession and they have been preserving and perfecting this technique for generations. A completely different skillset is required to make textile blocks, compared to other carpentry. The process demands intense focus because once the design is hammered on wood, there is no going back.
What is special about what we do?
Adding to the beauty of Sanganeri block printing, is the story of our varied prints, hand-carved on Teak Wood by artisans celebrating inclusivity and diversity with edgy prints that have unconventional approach to the mainstream motifs of the celebrated craft.
Our forte is to create representations of modern-day women from varied ethnicities, colours and costumes. Ranging from abstract and modern floral prints that are enough to make you feel like a showstopper on-the-go to silhouettes that brings out the grunge and diva in you without screaming out loud, we have a print for everybody and every mood.
We believe that pieces of clothing are a part of your soul and they become part of your stories and memories. So, we are passionate in working with silhouettes that love every shape and are classic and timeless and don't go out of style with rapidly changing trends. Also, we keep in mind that pockets are important! So are proper linings and buttons.
Practicing sustainability & zero-wastage:
Along with our trust in sustainable clothing and wardrobe recycling, we are committed to care for the environment by being eco-friendly and sustainable in every step of the process. All our garments are made from natural fibers that can dissolve completely without much carbon footprint. From fabrics, buttons, threads, labels to packaging - everything is biodegradable. Also, every order comes in a quirky cloth pouch made from the scraps of the leftover fabric. How cool is that? Also, all the materials are ethically-sourced and we practice fair trade.
About the founder and lover of all-things-prints:
With the want of upholding this intricate craft to our future generation, WildMoss Clothing is the brain child of me, Disha Agrawal - a self-proclaimed lover of prints who has the eye for conversational prints. With over a decade’s experience in export and retail, I have taken my love for renovating and repairing to create this clothing line. Being from Rajasthan, growing up with this art around, my design sensibilities have always been intrigued by them. I always kept wondering, what can be done to reinvent this art form to make it relevant to today’s taste. That’s when I went all in with thorough research and planning. What interests you now, is my attempt on a modern and edgy version of Sanganeri block printing with an all-season, sustainable, statement wear - that cherishes traditional art!
